Women’s Enterprise Organizations of Canada Announces Miriam Johnson as Chair of the Board of Directors
Ottawa, ON — Women’s Enterprise Organizations of Canada (WEOC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Miriam Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK), as Chair of the Board of Directors.
Johnson assumes the role following two years of service as WEOC’s Vice-Chair and Chair of the Governance Committee, where she played a leading role in strengthening the organization’s governance framework and helping position WEOC for its next phase of growth and impact.
A respected leader in entrepreneurship, economic development, community engagement, and organizational transformation, Johnson brings a collaborative, future-focused approach to leadership and a deep commitment to advancing opportunities for women entrepreneurs across Canada.
As CEO of WESK, Johnson has championed efforts to close the gender entrepreneurship gap while helping strengthen Saskatchewan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Her career spans both the private and public sectors, with extensive experience in strategic partnerships, community development, marketing, stakeholder engagement, and organizational leadership.
Prior to joining WESK, Johnson held senior leadership roles with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where she helped secure Saskatchewan’s successful Grey Cup bid, launch the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, and develop initiatives that connected communities across the province. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her ability to bring people together around a shared vision and translate ideas into meaningful action.

Known for her growth-oriented mindset and commitment to continuous improvement, Johnson has been instrumental in helping modernize WEOC’s governance structures while supporting the organization’s evolving national mandate. Her leadership style is grounded in collaboration, innovation, and a belief that strong ecosystems are built through partnership.

Johnson succeeds Shauna Harper, who served as Chair during a period of significant growth and national engagement for the organization. WEOC extends its sincere gratitude to Harper for her leadership, service, and dedication to advancing women entrepreneurs across Canada.
As Chair, Johnson will help guide WEOC’s next chapter of growth and impact. Working alongside member organizations across the country, she will support WEOC’s efforts to strengthen and connect Canada’s women’s enterprise organizations, advance national collaboration through the WEOC Centre of Excellence and WEOC Loans, and ensure women entrepreneurs have access to the support, capital, and opportunities needed to contribute to a stronger Canadian economy.
